The latest wave of LEGO Harry Potter sets include the usual assortment of minifigures, but there are some pretty interesting and unique things in them, such as enlarged models of minifigure proportions.

Suffice it to say, they are much more complex and sophisticated than I thought they would be.
Inside the body, there are frames to hold the sides at the correct angle, while gears on the technology friction pins ensure that the protruding shafts supporting the arms can bear their weight and allow them to rotate and pose in certain positions.
The structure of the hip assembly is inverted and it also has joint sections that provide a large amount of friction so that the leg can be held and maintained in a range of positions.
The hollow legs have 2x8 tech plates inside, which provide both strength and a way to attach them to the hip shaft.
The arms are sculpted with various curved and cheese-beveled elements, and the hands are made up of light flesh-colored pieces, which are finally being used more widely this year. This set contains 120 flesh-colored elements from 13 different designs. All but one are new designs in this model.
Harry had a large cloth cape, which did not hang around his neck like a man-child, but was attached under his arm joints.
The structure of Harry and Hermione is basically the same so far, except for some color variations, but their heads are very different due to the different hair styles of the characters.
Inside is an extremely complex SNOT frame, in order to allow the outside hair to build up on all sides and on top.
The end result looks great: almost all of the curved elements in the parts set are used to add a lively look to the hair.
