The front of the box gives a good indication of the model's contents, with the Dark Lord Fei Long facing off against Golden Lloyd. But it's strange that this Lloyd doesn't have the base and logo unique to the Phantom Ninja 10th Anniversary minifigures - these appear inside several other Phantom Ninja Legend sets released in January 2021. Maybe it's because there's already a Lloyd inside the 71735 Elemental Ring, or maybe it's because this Lloyd is just slated to be a regular part of the set, not a commemorative edition collectible minifigures.
The box opened with your fingers contains three numbered parts bags, a 76-page instruction manual.
This flying dragon has rich dark blue and black elements with gold and purple accents scattered throughout. Some nice details come through early on, such as the purple lightning energy effect on the chest. The black horns and wedge-shaped bricks also add some lively curves to the body shape.
After adding the legs, it still looks good. The hips, ankles and toe sections are jointed, making the model stand very stable in all poses.
The head uses a new two-color mold for the upper and lower jaws, and has printed eyes in the upper part. The neck part of the elements feel a little clumsy, but the purple horn elements utilized several times work well.
There are also cool things in the tail and wing section. The 16 stud long propeller blades are elements that have been around for a while, but this is the first time they appear in purple. The tail has the same hinge design as 71721 Skeleton Wizard's flying dragon, but has the same problem: the articulation is very loose and does not allow for the desired pose.
But the wings here too across, three propeller blades look cool, but very unlike the dragon wings. Looking at the stills of the flying dragon in the cartoon, I do not understand why Lego does not re-color the dragon wings, or use cloth, plastic film or something to fill the gap between the dragon wings, they used to do so on top of other ninja flying dragon.
After adding the wings, you can also see the obvious wedge-shaped plates, and they don't look very good from an elevated view.
The well put together model can support standing well, the flying dragon body color and texture match very well, the tail also looks good. The form of the head is fierce and intimidating, the shoulders and legs of the ball joint can be posed in a variety of positions, the body balance can be maintained.
Unfortunately, the head also has a small problem, although it has a good shape and a good connection between the upper and lower jaws to make an open and closed look.
